Yadong’s mastery of the pipa began under the mentorship of Lin Shicheng, a renowned Pudong Pipa School master and Intangible Cultural Heritage inheritor in China. Over the years, she has founded multiple ensembles, including the Yadong Guan Trio, which in 2000 became Canada’s first ensemble blending Chinese and Western string instruments (pipa, guitar, and cello).
